Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Sam through his surgery and recovery! We wanted to quickly update you with how he’s doing:

The procedures at Dayton Children’s (removal of his adenoids and two scopes of his airways) went quickly and smoothly and he came out of anesthesia fairly easily (with the help of orange popsicles and Elmo!). The doctors told us that the scope revealed that his trachea does have some abnormalities and softer tissue that causes his raspy breathing. At this stage they are not concerned that it is hindering him in any way, only that it could cause him to be more susceptible to respiratory infections. They also told us that it is not likely to worsen, and may in fact improve as he gets older, so we pray that will be the case. They kept him overnight for observation and he was able to get a fair amount of sleep (although I can’t say the same for myself or my mom who stayed overnight as well) and was discharged in the morning. He’s been recovering at home the last couple days and what little pain he’s had has been managed with a Tylenol/Motrin regimen.

Going into the surgery I was very nervous, not knowing what to expect, but we are so grateful that everything went as well as it could and that he is recovering quickly. Thank you again for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers!
